Bert van Elderen is vanaf 1980 werkzaam in de wereld van het vliegtuigonderhoud.
Na het afronden van de basic aircraft maintenance opleiding, is Bert gaan werken bij de KLM engineering en maintenance afdeling. Hij heeft zes jaar lang gewerkt in hangars, op base- en in line-maintenance.
Daarna is hij overgestapt naar Schiphol-center om zich te specialiseren in line maintenance. In totaal heeft Bert dertien jaar op Schiphol-center gewerkt en zeven jaar op outstations over de hele wereld. Bert is in het bezit van de Part 66 license, voor zowel kleine piston toestellen als grotere tot de B777.
In 2006 is Bert gaan werken bij de CAA-NL (IVW) om een allround SAFA-inspecteur te worden. Sindsdien heeft hij meer dan tweeduizend SAFA/SACA/SANA inspecties uitgevoerd. Ook gaf Bert training aan SAFA-inspecteurs en andere professionals om vertrouwd te raken met het SAFA-programma.
Daarnaast voerde hij regelmatig ACAM-inspecties uit samen met het MAR-team.
Van februari 2019 tot februari 2021 maakte Bert deel uit van het Lufthansa onderhoudsteam op Schiphol, vooral bezig met de technische afhandeling van B744 vrachtvliegtuigen.
In augustus 2020 heeft Bert een eigen bedrijf opgestart, Zwaan Aviation. Dit bedrijf richt zich op het ondersteunen van de luchtvaartsector. Niet alleen betreffende onderhoud, maar ook op het gebied van SAFA, SACA en ACAM inspecties.

Licenties
Bert van Elderen is working in the world of aircraft maintenance since 1980. After completing the basic aircraft maintenance training, Bert started working at the KLM engineering and maintenance department. He worked in hangars, base and in-line maintenance for six years.
He then moved to Schiphol Center to specialize in line maintenance. In total, Bert worked at Schiphol Center for thirteen years and seven years at outstations all over the world. Bert is in possession of the Part 66 license, for both small piston aircraft and larger ones up to the B777 and also FAA A&P.
In 2006, Bert started working at the CAA-NL (IVW) to become an all-round SAFA inspector. Since then he has performed more than 2,000 SAFA/SACA/SANA inspections. Bert also provided training to SAFA inspectors and other professionals to familiarize themselves with the SAFA program.
In addition, he regularly performed ACAM inspections together with the MAR team.
From February 2019 to February 2021, Bert was part of the Lufthansa maintenance team at Schiphol, mainly involved in the technical handling of B744 cargo aircraft.
In August 2020, Bert started his own company, Zwaan Aviation. This company focuses on supporting the aviation sector. Not only regarding maintenance, but also in the field of SAFA, SACA and ACAM inspections.
